The best affordable low key restaurants in Toronto

Toronto has sooo many amazing restaurants! When you think of the best restaurants you generally think fine dinning, but that's not always the case.

You can still get amazing food, atmosphere, for less money.

Most of my favorite restaurants are mom and pap establishments, or offer quick dinning soultions- that still offer a aesthetic and vibe. They are spots that are hidden gems in the city. Restaurants you will go back to time and time again. Places you will randomly crave.

I have never been the type to go out to eat somewhere and like the food so much that I crave it a few days later. However these spots omg ... I could live off just these restaurants.

The best part about it is they make for a great, affordable date night too. For those days you and your partner just want something low key! Especially after the holiday season, all that Christmas shopping - things can e expensive and we need to save somewhere. You can still have the cutest date night on a budget.

I used to just love Italian but there are so many different cuisine . So this is a list that is not specified to one type of cuisine..

In no specific order here are my favorite Toronto restaurants that you have to try!

Alexandros Take-Out

Greek food! So good the bet Greek food I have had in a long time. I definitely prefer the fries over the rice. It is also right by the water. Perfect for a date night, walking by the water and grabbing some food. They are open late and they also give you big portions so you will have left overs !

My order : Chicken souvlaki dinner

Address: 5 Queens Quay W, Toronto, ON M5J 2H1

Juicy dumplings

This place is so addicting. Perfect for when you are sick, perfect for when you do not know what you want, everyone I talk to loves Juicy Dumplings. I ordered it 5 times in one month...

My order: Vegetable buns, pan fried juicy buns (pork), and sometimes mini steamed pork dumplings.

Address: 280 Spadina Ave., Toronto, ON M5T 0A1

fuzen japanese fusion cuisine

This spot was the cutest, family owned sushi place. The father was making sushi, his wife was the server, and his young daughter was watching cartoons on the side. It is such a locals spot. A lot of people I could tell lived in the area, old and young came to eat .

What we ordered I honestly do not remember all of the rolls we ordered but I know we ordered:

kamikaze roll, green roll and shrimp tempura - which had a bunch of veggies under the shrimp yum

Address: 132 Front St E, Toronto, ON M5A 1E2

Uno Mustachio

OMG BEST VEIL Sandwich. This is a whole meal that will fill you for hours.

Perfect chill vibes, explore the market, end the night with some dinner here! The bread was so fresh and all the flavours were amazing!

The godfather is their popular order. I read about it on a blog. I went up to the cash to ordered, totally forgot what I wanted and he said the godfather... its our most popular. And I was like yes!

What I ordered: the godfather

Address: Market, 95 Front St E, Toronto, ON M5E 1C3 in St. Lawrence Market

fonda lola mexican bistro

The perfect hidden gem. They have such a pretty patio in the back. The tacos leave you full and happy, so flavourful. Sometimes you eat tacos and you feel gross after but not with these, feels like a healthy meal, that leaves you so happy. And the vibe of this place ugh amazing.

It is also on Queen West so you can walk around explore all the amazing shops and go for dinner.

What I ordered: fish tacos! I honestly do not know what he ordered buttt the fish tacos!

Address: 942 Queen St W, Toronto, ON M6J 1G8

cafe oro di napoli

This is the perfect spot for gelato, pizza and pasta. My first time here was on a rainy day, it was the perfect rainy date night, the vibe of the restaurant was amazing. Definitely a must try, you can also sit at the church near by and watch the dogs play!

What I ordered mushroom pizza and I can not remember the pasta!

Address: 75 Jarvis St, Toronto, ON M5C 2H1

Market Street Catch

Right outside the St. Lawrence market, these are sooo goood, and so filling. Perfect to eat and then go for a walk. So many parks close by , or even by the water to walk off all that food.

What I ordered Lobster roll with fries

Address: 14 Market St., Toronto, ON M5E 1C3

za cafe pizzeria and bar

On a random date night we discovered this spot. A cute low-key spot on Bloor.

What I ordered: mushroom pizza and fig pizza

Address: 372 Bay St., Toronto, ON M5H 2W9
